WORLD MISSIONS MINISTRY

At Whitwell Church of God, our World Missions Ministry is committed to taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ beyond our local community and into the nations. With a special focus on Southeast Asia—particularly Laos, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam—we partner with missionaries and organizations to bring spiritual hope and practical help to those in need. Through discipleship, education, church planting, and humanitarian aid, we strive to share Christ’s love in ways that transform lives and strengthen communities.

Focus on Southeast Asia

Much of our mission work is centered in Southeast Asia, where we support ministries in some of the world’s most underserved regions. This includes Forward Housing, a post-orphanage ministry providing secondary education, trade school opportunities, and safe housing for young adults transitioning out of orphanages. We are also engaged in pastor training, church planting, and building or remodeling churches, helping to equip leaders and establish vibrant communities of faith.

In the Golden Triangle region of Southeast Asia, our church supports several ministries and development of water filtration systems and wells, addressing both spiritual and physical needs. These projects not only bring clean water to communities but also open doors for the Gospel to be shared in meaningful and lasting ways.

Global Partnerships

While Southeast Asia is a primary focus, our World Missions Ministry extends to other nations as well. In Honduras, we partner with ARD to support a church, pastor, and children’s feeding center, while also providing workers and funding for facility repairs when needed. In Uruguay, we assist with pastor retreats, drug rehabilitation efforts, and the planting and sustaining of new churches. We also support the ministry of Hong Yang, who works to spread the Gospel and distribute Bibles across multiple nations.

Beyond these specific partnerships, we make room for general missions giving, allowing our Missions Department to send resources to urgent needs wherever they arise. This ensures we are always ready to respond quickly and effectively when opportunities to serve present themselves.

Meeting Practical Needs

Our commitment to world missions goes beyond spiritual teaching—it includes meeting critical, everyday needs. Through generous giving, our church has funded the digging of wells in India, Nigeria, and the Democratic Republic of Congo, as well as a water filtration system in Myanmar. These efforts bring clean water and renewed health to entire communities, reminding them that God sees and cares for every detail of their lives.
